Port Manager – (Bristol Channel)

Port Manager – Permanent – Bristol – Excellent salary plus car allowance, bonus & benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to join a market leading shipping company based in their Bristol office.

As Port Manager, you will be responsible for the general management of the Bristol Channel operation. In this role, you get the unique opportunity to grow the business, taking on responsibility for planning, directing and leading all activities within the operation. You will use your expertise to collaborate with specialist functional teams to achieve alignment with organisational objectives

Responsibilities include:

• Ensure the highest level of safety and quality standards are being met
• Leadership of the team conducting the general day-to-day management of the port operation
• Build relations to crew and union representatives
• Monitor and develop new business opportunities and identify new profitable revenue streams
• Account manage the relationship with key clients in the port
• Ensure the continuous reliability of the fleet, including maintenance & repair, classification requirements.
• Implementing business strategy to maximise profitability within your operation.

Experience / Qualifications Required:

• Strong business acumen having sound knowledge of financial management
• Capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels
• Have experience in a commercial role within the maritime industry & experience in a leadership role
• Strong leadership skills – able to motivate, inspire teams and drive change
• Excellent influencing & negotiation skills with unions is a distinct advantage
• A Marine qualification and previous marine/maritime experience, would be advantageous.
