CNG Field Service Engineer

CNG Field Service Engineer- UK Travel – Permanent- £40k + call out + OT

Navis Consulting have an opportunity for an individual with extensive engineering knowledge and high customer care standards. This role is aimed at an individual that enjoys working alone, occasionally in a small team and also has the ability to work under pressure. You will be working with CNG compressor stations travelling around the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute mechanical and electrical service activities for CNG/HP Compressors and their associated systems.
  • Undertake site surveys and assessments, maintenance and repairs to company equipment as required
  • Clearly and accurately document tasks, parts used and additional requests from the customer that could alter the agreed scope of supply, impact the job commercially and increase delays the completion date
  • Feedback the documented changes to the Field Service Team Leader on a regular basis with supported evidence to allow for accurate conversations with the customer
  • Provide timely detailed service reports and accurate feedback on all issues to the Field Service Team Leader
  • Provide recommendations for the improvement of products, specifications, installation, and operational procedures
  • Proactively promote and Identify opportunities for new business growth including SLAs and spares packages to help increase customer satisfaction and minimise equipment downtime
  • At all times represent the company’s interests while interacting with vessel/shipyard staff or the classification society in a professional and polite manner
  • Provide emergency ‘out of hours’ contact and support on a rota basis. Support over telephone or in person at site.
  • Be familiar with and comply with the company’s policies; in particular relevant policies on health, safety and environmental matters. Without fail correctly complete the Risk Assessment Prompt Card prior to starting each job and revisit the Risk Assessment should the situation or the job at hand change
  • Work in a manner that promotes the company’s values.
  • Management may require other similar or related duties to be performed at certain times, which are outside the terms of this job description.

Experience required:

  • A good general mechanical/electrical engineering background incorporating a basic understanding of electrical control systems.
  • Electronic and PLC control systems basic understanding would be an advantage.
  • Qualifications in marine or industrial engineering to HNC or an equivalent level. Appropriate experience would be considered as an alternative.
  • Previous experience and product knowledge is required of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) compressor systems, ATEX awareness, and experience would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of LNG or Biogas systems would also be an advantage.
  • Good communications skills verbal and written, self-motivation and demonstrable high customer care standards.
  • Role involves mostly lone working but ability to work in a small team is required.
  • Current driving valid driving licence and passport.
  • Mostly working within the UK but must have a willingness to undertake periods of working the periods away are one – two weeks.
  • Extensive product knowledge, especially with HP Compressors and ancillary site equipment.
  • Extensive commissioning maintenance & service skills
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Strong problem solving ability and system understanding.
