Fabrication Draughtsperson

Fabrication Draughtsman- Permanent- Southampton- £25-30k

Navis Consulting have an opportunity for an individual with a passion for design with acute detail and to develop customers ideas. This role is aimed at an individual wanting to develop further in their career and grow their skill set working on design tasks for a range of production and custom tenders. You will become a multi-skilled marine draughtsman covering all aspects of small vessel design. You will be support by the rest of the design team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce manufacturing drawings for in house, subcontract and fabrication teams
• Work closely with manufacturing team to make sure all design mindset is maintained
• Work closely with design team making sure all fabrication drawings are detailed and issued to high standards
• Working with fabrication department to capture ‘as-built’ information and new designs are manufacturable
• New development projects investigate new manufacturing methods and propose new materials & suppliers
• Create master bill of materials

Experience required:

• Educational background in BEng/ MEng level preferably practical operational or manufacturing experience
• Design or internship experience (1-2 years experience)
• Portfolio of previous work
• Meeting deadlines and able to complete multiple tasks at one time
• Good accuracy and attention to detail with high motivation levels
• Able to work within a team and liaise with other departments
• Professional experience of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experienced in 2D, 3D surface and 3D solid modelling design packages including AutoCAD, Rhinoceros and OnShape/Solid Works
• Knowledge of small power craft construction & design, or superyacht industry experience, or hands-on experience in metal fabricating, is an advantage
