Marine Engineer / Service Technician – Perm – Cookham

Overall Purpose: Perform mechanical and or electrical repairs and maintenance to boats, engines and associated equipment both on and off site. Order replacement parts. Consult and review schematics. Determine causes of operating problems. Any other duties as requested by Marine Engineer – Supervisor.

Competency Requirements: Educated to GCSE standard. A conscientious, practical person with mechanical aptitude and a methodical work ethic. Previous mechanical/engineering experience essential. Previous marine experience an advantage. Current driving license essential.

KEY AREA: MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF BOATS, ENGINES & EQUIPMENT

To maintain and repair customers’ boats at the marina and on-site. To maintain and repair industrial engines as required. Responsibilities include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • To service and repair marine engines and associated mechanical equipment in customers’ boats
  • The installation of new engines
  • To service and repair industrial engines as required
  • The service and repair of outdrives
  • The service and repair of on-board auxiliary systems
  • To anti-foul customers’ boats
  • To pressure wash & cleaning hulls and topsides of customers’ boats
  • The minor fibre-glass repair of customers’ boats; the organisation of large repairs by third party contractors
  • The maintenance and repair of customers’ boats
  • Any other duties as required by the Marine Engineer – Supervisor
